Akwa Ibom lauds ICPC for professionalism
Abuja - Akwa State Governor, Udom Emmanuel, has advised the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), to uphold professionalism in the discharge of its duties.
He said this would sustain the already-built confidence of Nigerians in the commission.
The governor stated this during a courtesy visit by members of the Commission at Government House, Uyo.
He noted the commission, which is an anti-graft agency, had commanded the respect of Nigerians following its operations and understanding of the workings of a democratic setting.
"Given the integrity of members of the Commission selected purely on merit, it is impossible to believe that the Commission can be compromised or reduced to a tool for political witch-hunting," Emmanuel said
He urged the commission to prosecute "on conviction rather than on directives."
