Our fears for Kogi governorship poll- Ameh, PPA chair

Ahead of the next week Saturday’s governorship election in Kogi state, the National Chairman of Progressive Peoples Alliance, PPA, Chief Peter Ameh, has expressed grave concern that recent activities of miscreants and political thugs might pose a threat to successful conduct of the poll.
Chief Ameh who drew his apprehension from antecedence of previous election held in the state, however, called on the police and security agencies to take steps to nip in bud the activities of the enemies of the state.
Speaking with Vanguard in an exclusive interview in Abuja, Ameh, whose party is fielding a governorship candidate, Mr. Emmanuel Ozigi, said security agencies must uproot the miscreants and political thugs to clear way for smooth election.
Recall the Kogi police command, arrested some boys suspected political thugs being secretly trained to disrupt the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
The boys numbering about 25 according to police source were rounded up by the police at a location in Ejule in Ofu local government area of the state, where about 16 AK 47 Riffles, four double barrels, three local made pistols, knives, cutlasses and some charms were said to have been recovered from them.
According to him, “there are fears because the preparation for the election is not as stable as it used to be, you know the new National Chairman of INEC, Professor Mahmood Yakubu and the other six Commissioners just resumed duties”
“The fear is that PDP is afraid, thinking things are going to go this way, they are afraid the APC will come with their might and there will be clash of the titans and our able citizens in the state will fall victims as many may lose their lives.
“Our fear is that no body’s mandate should be taken for another person. And that every vote counted must belong genuinely to the person counted for.
“These are the fears of all of us the political parties’ leaders, as interest group, civil society groups that the election should be true reflection of the event that will take place on the November 21, 2015.
