Wada declares 3 days of mourning over Audu’s death


Lokoja - Gov. Idris Wada of Kogi State has declared 3 days of mourning in honour of the former governor of the state and candidate of the All Progressive Congress, (APC) in Saturday’s governorship election in the state,  Abubakar Audu, reports Vanguard.


Audu died on Sunday shortly before the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the election inconclusive.


Wada described Audu as a great Kogite and a great Nigerian who has contributed immensely to the socio-economic and political development of Kogi State.
In a statement, Monday, by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Adegbemiro Jegede, Wada described Audu as a leader who always strive to give his pursuit the best.
The governor commiserated with the family of Audu and the entire people of Kogi State.
Although, INEC had declared the election inconclusive, Audu was poised to be declared winner eventually.
Audu, from the results declared by the INEC, from the 21 local councils in the state, had won 16 with 240 867 votes and was clearly ahead of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) opponent and incumbent, Wada.
