NITEL becomes Ntel, to deploy 4G network in Nigeria’s telecoms market

NITEL becomes Ntel, to deploy 4G network in Nigeria’s telecoms market.

The Managing Director of Ntel, Kamar Abass, said this in Lagos during a media luncheon organised by the company.
Natcom Development and Investment Limited on Thursday said it would deploy 4 Generation network to show its relevance in the Nigerian telecommunications market.
The Managing Director of Ntel, Kamar Abass, said this in Lagos during a media luncheon organised by the company.
Ntel is the company that acquired the assets and liabilities of the defunct NITEL and MTEL.
Abass said the company would now be known as Nigeria Telecommunications and would offer high speed data, high-definition voice and video to customers.
He added that there were still spaces in the marketplace for new SIMs, hence NTel as a new entrant had many opportunities.
According to him, the company will be doing video over data and ensure Nigerians get high quality broadband, rather than cheap broadband.
He said: “Nigeria is in extreme ‘data hunger’, with just 92.7 million active Internet users as at June 2015, but the surprising issue is that only 27.6 million of the users access the Internet are on 3G/4G networks.
“It shows that more than 65 million go on the Internet on 2G, which means that we are losing the broadband race by using 2G network, since 4G is the heart of broadband.
“Our story is that of pure 4G network, with high speed broadband and better technology.
“We see ourselves as offering Nigeria the key ingredient with the deployment of 4G.”
The NTel boss said the assets acquired from NITEL included cellular spectrum/microwave frequencies, telecom operating licences, international submarine cable, which is the SAT-3, and cell towers.
Abass added that the company also acquired fibre and duct network (including Right Of Way), prime buildings and satellite earth stations.
Abass said the company would roll out services simultaneously in three cities before the end of 2015.
These are Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt.
He noted that some of the equipment acquired from NITEL were obsolete, hence they would not be used to deploy the 4G services.
According to him, the 4G network to be built by NTel will be better than what is presently obtainable in the industry.
The company would start deploying fixed service in the second half of 2016, he said.
NTel’s ownership of SAT-3 would also help with superfast Internet from West to South Africa and Europe, all the way to Asia.

THE TREK FROM MOTION GROUND

The exams were over. The campusboy laid in his bed in his hostel room, he was trying to get some sleep, since there was nowhere to go, nothing to do. They were on vacation and going home wasn't an option at least not for now.
First it started like a voice in his head, then it became louder and it was obvious it was his neighbor and his girlfriend quarreling. It became so loud, there was just no way he was going to get any sleep in that condition. He laid down, eyes fixed on the roof above of his room, then the thoughts came. The memories came flashing. One of his favorite memories was of the day he had to walk from his lecture theater all the way into town till he got to his hostel about 5kms away.
It started as a rumor in the class, that buses from the school park were no more going into town. The drivers were having issues with the S.U.G (Student Union Government), so as a result they went into strike. There was no other way than to trek. It was fun at first few kms.. Then it wasn't so "funny" few Kms after...to be continued

THE TALE OF THE GIRL WHO MADE TOO MANY PROMISES

She met him and made a deal with him. The deal was that he was going to teach her to sing and in return she'd pay him $500. Wow, that was a lot of money...for someone like him who lived on shifts to shifts, it could change his life.
He declined the money, but he asked for something else in return. He could barely speak English...he was struggling with the language and since she was learned studied and living in London, he figured she could help.
Their deal was sealed. They kept seeing more and more of each other. They became good friends in a week she could sing like Nightingale just as he had promised. His English had also improved.
Things were going well until...to be continued

Adeniyi Johnson To His Estranged Actress Wife; “Someday You’ll Forget The Hurt”

Famous Nollywood actress, Toyin Aimakhu seems to have given up the possibility of ever going back to her husband, Adeniyi Johnson.
Adeniyi Johnson shared a photo on Instagram that many believe is directed to his wife.
On October 27, Toyin Aimakhu wrote on Instagram “Sometimes, holding on does more damage than letting go.
A day after Adeniyi Johnson responded to his wife’s statement. “Someday you will forget the hurt, the reason you cried, and who caused you pain. You will finally realize that the secret of being free is not revenge, but letting things unfold in their own way and own time.
“After all, what matters is not the first, but the last chapter of your own life which shows how well we ran the race. So smile, laugh, forgive, believe, and love all over again” read the poster.
Last week Toyin Aimakhu called a fan mad after the beautiful actress shared a video of her dancing to rapper Olamide’s latest single ‘Lagos Boys‘; in the caption she wrote “Happiness is the key to life be happy for ursef, I’m super super happy.. #streetoflagos.
A fan took exception to this and made a comment under the post. “U might be happy but without ur husband ur happiness is incomplete and we ur fans are not happy with d situation on ground. pls ma don’t leave ur matrimonial home. I love u” the fan wrote.
Toyin Aimakhu didn’t waste any time in dishing out her hot reply. “ur happiness won’t be complete without a man..were wa Lori elo mi sha kilode (some people are mad, what is it?)..did u pple advise me to marry him..love u more.
The actress is definitely touchy when it comes to the area of her rocky marriage to Adeniyi Johnson.

...Contination of THE TALE OF THE GIRL WHO MADE TOO MANY PROMISES

This guy loved so many things, one of which was music. As fate would have it, she walked past where he was singing on the street to make money, she admired his voice just like anybody would have and she went about her business.
As a young man struggling to make ends meet, he did a lot of shifts, from tout to a waiter whatever he could lay his hands on. On one of this occasions he waited at wedding, from where he stood, he could see everything, and the newly engaged bride was the girl he fell for at the church.
He was surprised but not totally...since he heard her pray against an unwanted husband but what he did not know was if the prayer was answered or not, but from the look of things it didn't seem like it was.
While cleaning up after the engagement party, he saw her outside, alone, not happy by the look on her face. He went to her and said jokingly "why are you not happy, I guess sir Jesus did not answer the prayer you made in church the other day?"...shocked she said "How is it you know all these?". "I was there that day, cleaning". She told him it was bad manners to listen eavesdrop on other people and also made it clear that this was not the man she prayed against that day, this was someone else entirely and that she was happy. "But you don't look happy otherwise you won't be out here alone on your own engagement night. "what the f..." someone called for her, and she left.to be continued.

The tale of the girl who made too many promises.

Whatever she wanted, she got. From friends, father even God. How does she do it? She'd go on her knees and pray, telling God that if he answered her prayers, in return she would also give something up. Sometimes they could be bad habits, sometimes they were the things she loved the most. The things she held dearest. That was her believe.
One time her dad wanted her to marry this young man she'd known since childhood. She ran to God, made another deal with Him, and promised Him that if He could make it so that she doesn't get married to him, She'd stop wearing her favorite designer top.

As usual she got her wish. Then her trust in this way became stronger..but that day in church while she was praying unaware that someone was looking at her and listening, she left. The young man, fell for her, because she was a beauty to behold, but since then until now, their path hasn't crossed..to be continued.

...continuation from last time

The exam came, and within a week it was gone, at least for them ( 200 level and above were still busy with exam) and for now. You could almost predict your result from what you've done, It was that transparent except of course, you were taught and in such cases you're not really sure of whatever you were taught in the exam hall, so that doesn't count, but if you tried your best on your own...
You work and and play even harder, but now that their exams were past, it was only time for play, no more work. Things started changing, some were leaving school for home, while some decided to hang around a bit...things were becoming boring.

                                                                         ********

He left her, there was no sense in sticking around with her. For him it was better to be alone than to be with someone who made him feel alone. There was a void in his heart. This one was not going to be easily filled anytime soon. The more shocking thing was the way she moved on really quick, it was almost as if whatever they had meant absolutely nothing. It's times like that that makes you think if you were ever going to get married or not.

Senate queries approval of N63.5bn for Abuja Airport’s 2nd runway contract

Senate queries approval of N63.5bn for Abuja Airport’s 2nd runway contract

ABUJA—THE Senate, yesterday, queried the N63.5 billion approved for the construction of the second Runway for the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, saying it was an attempt to ‘steal and rape’ Nigerians of the country’s common patrimony.
It, however, called on the government to urgently construct a second runway at the airport and urged it to ensure that due process and diligence was followed in the award of contracts for the construction.
These resolutions were sequel to a motion by Senator Dino Melaye, All Progressives Congress, APC, Kogi West, titled, The Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja, Second Runway Contract.
The Senate, while calling on the federal government to drastically reduce what it termed the unrealistic cost, said the government must monitor the contract award process.
Presenting the motion, Senator Melaye noted that the contract for the construction of the runway was cancelled by the last administration after allegation of over inflation of contracts was established.
Melaye, who noted that the contract was awarded by the Federal Executive Council, FEC, at N64 billion after ratification by the Bureau for Public Procurement, BPP, contended that there was also  the need  for the construction of a second runway since, according to him, “the existing one is not only bad but inadequate.”
According to him, the entire Gombe Airport, with 3.6km runaway cost N8.2 billion; Jigawa Airport cost a total of N11 billion, Bauchi, N12 billion; Enugu Airport, reconstructed and expanded at N13 billion and Akwa Ibom Airport was constructed at N18.05 billion.
He expressed worry that the proposed cost of constructing just a runway at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport, Abuja, was astronomical, insisting that the amount was four times the cost of constructing a brand new runway in the country.
Melaye argued that the new Terminal 5 at Heathrow Airport, with four lanes of 4km runway cost less than N22 billion, saying constructing a 3. 8km one-line runway for N63.5 billion would be a waste of fund considering Nigeria’s present economic situation.
He said: “The publication that the contract is already undergoing review and to be awarded at N63.5 billion as published by newspapers is another attempt to steal and rape Nigerians of our common patrimony. Further convinced by the fact that the entire Gombe Airport with 36km runway cost of N8.2 billion; Jigawa Airport cost N12 billion, Enugu Airport was constructed and expanded at 13 billion naira and Akwa Ibom Airport at N18.05 billion .
“This astronomical amount is about four times the cost of constructing a brand new airport in Nigeria. As a representative of the people, we must advise that due process  and strict adherence to Public Procurement Act be observed in the said contract of the Second  Abuja  Airport  Runaway. If this not brought to attention of the government now, there may be another fraud in the making, given the comparative analysis of cheaper cost across  the country. “
Senate President, Bukola Saraki, in his remark, tasked the government to put in motion necessary machinery to construct a better runway at the Abuja International Airport and due process should be followed in awarding the contract.
According to him, the amount bandied for constructing the second runway at the airport was unacceptable, stressing that  the Senate would do its best to ensure that there was probity in award of contracts not only in the aviation sector,   but other sectors of the economy.
The Senate President who noted that   there was the need to stop what he described as the reckless expenditures, while awarding contracts in the country, said  that it was the responsibility of the senate to perform the oversight functions in awarding these contracts.
Meanwhile, five bills passed first reading yesterday.
The bills include Prevention and Punishment of Torture Bill 2015 by Senator Biodun Olujimi, Ekiti South;  the Nigerian Biodiversity bill 2015 and Counterfeit Goods Bill 2015 by Senator Isah Misau, Bauchi Central;      National ecological agency Bill 2015 by Senator Obinna Ogba, Ebonyi Central and and Fire arms act CAP F28 LFN 2004 (repeal and re-enactment) Bill 2015, Joshua Dariye, Plateau Central.

PREPARE FOR BATTLE

They finally started to settle down at their new school. It wasn't easy but there were bright sides too, like their favorite spot, "COKE", not cocaine of course, a cafeteria named after the Coca-cola company's carbonated soft drink. It was the place to be, as a matter of fact, they were either in the lecture room or at their favorite spot.
They had made new friends, became popular, they were enjoying their this newly found life, then the exams were fast approaching, creeping in like a smooth criminal, then the bright lights in their eyes became dim. This was was the second best if not the best state university in the country. The exams were no joke. Around this period, if you were fortunate enough to come in contact with the students, you'd probably think you were in the "holy land". The guys with lesser "swags" and the ladies with little or no make-up...The judgment day was near.
\

Being their first year and also the first semester exam, this was the time to build their GPA. It was time for war.

We use juju to rob traders in Lagos markets —Robbery suspects

It was payback time for a two-man robbery gang which specialised in raiding markets in Lagos and dispossessing traders  of their wares and cash, following its arrest by the Police in Lagos.

he suspects, Saidi Olalekan, and Joshua Akinsola.
The suspects; Saidi Olalekan (32) and Joshua Akinsola (20), who claimed to be a Nigerien, were arrested at Oshodi market during a foiled attempt to rob a textile shop owner of  some  lace materials and cash worth  N2.5 million
Recovered from them  were  stolen  lace materials worth N300,000 and  cash of N2 million.
During an interview with Vanguard, the suspects revealed that information on their victims were usually given  by their sales representatives. They also confessed  that they use charms to hypnotise their victims, a means they said made their operation easy.
But nemesis caught up with them after one of their victims who apparently was not affected by the charms raised the alarm which led to  the arrest of Akinsola, the supposed Nigerien.
32-year-old Olalekan, an indigene of  Ogun state who recently completed  a two-year-jail term, said: “We do not use any gun or dangerous weapon during operation. What we used was a charm called atare and ohun. This charm was prepared by a herbalists in Apapa. That is what most 419 people  use.
“Any time we were going for operation, we would put the charm in our mouth and another in the pocket. We would thereafter, enter any of the shops and order anyone there to bring the proceed for the day. We would also command them to bring as much yards of material they could lay their hands on. They will obey without complaining. Also, no customer will come to that shop as long as we remained there. After the raid, we would quietly leave the shop. Our victims usually regain consciousness several hours later.
“At the end of each operation, we would take the stolen materials far away from where we stole them and sell them at give away prices. For instance, if we steal material from Idumota , we will take it to Agege or even Sango in Ogun state to sell and share whatever was realised equally.”

My victim had a counter-
charm
On his part, his alleged partner in crime, Joshua Akinsola, disclosed that they usually get information either from sales representatives of their victims, their managers or relatives.

Oshodi operation and
counter-charm
On the Oshodi botched  operation, he said his victim apparently had an antidote to charms that gave them away.
He said: “While Olalekan was in one of the shops, I was in another. He succeeded in carrying some wares and N2 million cash from his victim. But I realised that after making some incantations with the charms in my mouth and pocket, my victims did not succumb, and had I left the shop with some lace materials than they  raised the alarm which attracted other traders at Oshodi.
“Before I knew it, some policemen arrived the scene and whisked me away. I led them to my colleague where the stolen  N2 million was  recovered. I am from Niger Republic but I live at Ogolo, around Benin Republic.”
The suspects according to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseni,  will be charged to court soon...as reported by vanguard news.

BAD FLOOD SITUATION IN KOGI STATE

Currently, the situation is as it is in the photos.

COMMON ANDROID PROBLEMS AND THEIR SOLUTIONS

1.    Android Not Reading micro SD Card
This happens all the time. Mostly where there’s cyclic redundancy error. The best solution is to check if other gadget like pc can read the card. If yes, then back up your files and format the card with a pc or another phone.
If it recognizes it after you format it then I recommend formatting the SD card again from within Android.
To format an Android micro SD card, go to:
Settings
Storage
Scroll down to the bottom and select “Format SD card”
Then select “Format SD card” again.
If it still doesn’t present after the first step then I recommend you try a different memory card. It could be in the card itself.
2.    Android Device Crashes on Boot
If your phone crashes on boots or reboots itself – you can enter what’s called “safe mode” — Safe Mode is a feature in most Androids that allows users to disable all startup apps that might be crashing the phone. Once booted in through safe mode, you can then remove the misbehaving app.
3.    Downloads Not Working
The problem is in a dedicated download manager that every Android phone comes with. Downloads fail when the caches are corrupted. To solve this, you’ll need to just wipe the cache. To wipe the cache, go to: Settings
Apps
Swipe right to “All” and select Download Manager
Then wipe the cache and restart the device.
Alternatively you can press and hold the app (in some phones) and drag it to app info icon that will appear then click on clear cache.
4.    System UI Not Working This rarely happens but sometimes the System User Interface can stop working or start misbehaving. Restarting your device fixes the problem most times but in a situation where it fails to stop after you restart your device, I suggest wiping the System UI cache. To wipe the cache, go to:
a.     Settings
Apps
Swipe left to “All” and select System UI
Then wipe the cache and restart the device.

5.    Google Play Store Not Downloading Apps
a.     A common problem in Android. That was the first problem I faced in my first infinix device back then.
6.    Google Play won’t install applications.
a.     Like in the case of download manager error, these two problems can be caused by expired cache. You will need to wipe Google Play’s cache. The second is to erase Google Play’s history.
b.    I fixed mine by wiping Google Play’s cache completely. Go to:
c.     Settings
Apps
Swipe right to locate the “all” tab
Locate Google Play Store and wipe cache and data
Restart your phone...more coming your way.

Jose Mourinho's miserable season tookanother turn for the worse as holders Chelsea were knocked out of the League Cup by Stoke in a penalty shootout.

After Chelsea dominated a goalless first-half, Stoke led when Jon Walters was allowed to turn on the edge of the box before firing in off the crossbar.
Loic Remy drilled in an injury-time equaliser, seconds before Stoke's Phil Bardsley was sent off for two bookings.
Stoke scored all of their spot-kicks, Eden Hazard missing the final penalty.

Agency withdraws 'data floor price' for telecoms operators

NAN reports that with the withdrawal of the price, telecommunications industry now has the permission of NCC to charge subscribers lower than the set lowest industry prices.
The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) on Monday said it has withdrawn the ``data floor price’’ for operators in the telecommunications industry.
"Floor price’’ is a government or group-imposed price control or the limit a price can be charged for a product to check unhealthy rivalry among players.
In a statement in Lagos, the commission said that the withdrawal was in a bid to ensure sustainability, growth and development of the data service market segment.
"However, the commission will restore the floor price if any distortion is observed within the market segment,’’ it said.
NAN reports that with the withdrawal of the price, telecommunications industry now has the permission of NCC to charge subscribers lower than the set lowest industry prices.
The regulatory body had in May 2013 imposed a price floor on telecommunications operators in the country as a means of controlling anti-competitive behaviours by operators considered to have attained the dominant status in the industry.
Such anti-competitive behaviours include charging calls within their networks much lower than what they charged for calls terminating on other networks.
With this, the operators might just be setting up calling clubs – a practice where subscribers just call those within the network of their own service providers.as reported by pulse nigeria

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH

He tried to reason with her, to tell her that things really doesn't work like that and that this distance in their relationship might be a blessing to it. They'll see each other bonce in a while and whenever they do, it'll be beautiful, seeing each other after a period of time, it'll be wonderful. Though it seemed as if her mind was made up and there was little or nothing she could do.
After seven months in their relationship and things still remained the same, she still doesn't call nor pick his calls, in fact the last time she called him was in the first month of their relationship. He decided enough was enough. He called her and told her he no longer want any npart of this relationship, because rather for it to bring him joy and happiness and every other good thing that comes with a relationship, all it has delivered to his door-step was pain

It really was a painful thing to do , but nevertheless, it was the right thing to do. This had to stop, he wasn't sure he could live without her, but he was sure he could survive without her.
