Inside Glo’s Dance with Peter.
Michael Jackson, MC Hammer, Janet Jackson, Missy Elliot, Ciara, Usher Raymond, Chris Brown are some of the historic performers of dance that became popular culture across the world. In Nigeria, a new wave of dance culture swept the youths off their feet when the sensational duo of Paul and Peter Okoye arrived on the Nigerian music scene. In the late 80s and early 90s, Felixx and Moxxyz ruled the dance floor. Since their career reached the passive mode, there was no strong role model for dance in Nigeria for almost two decades. Right now, with thanks to P-square, Nigerian music videos have become incomplete without dance and dancers who were yet to be featured in a musical video have no boasting right.
Hence, in an effort to boost dance, the national telecommunications operator, Globacom, in August announced its sponsorship of a reality television competition, Dance with Peter, a project promoted by sensational dancer, Peter Okoye, one half of P-square.
This marked a significant shift from singing talent hunts which followers of entertainment in Nigeria and Africa are used to. Project Fame, Nigerian Idol, Idol West Africa, Glo Naija Sings, X-Factor and Techno Own the Stage are concrete indicators that music reality shows have received all the attention. But Globacom is prepared to change that. Dance with Peter, which is currently ruling the airwaves in Nigeria and Ghana, is intended to discover the best dancer in West Africa.
Representatives of Globacom announced at the launch of the programme that Dance with Peter was designed to promote and glamourise the dance culture among West Africans and assist those who wish to dance professionally to discover their prodigious talents.

Judges at the competition are Peter Okoye; dance legend and Guinness Book recorder holder for longest dance, Kafayat Shafau Ameh, popularly known as Kaffy; dance instructor, Don Flexx, while Ehis Okoegule of MTV Base is the host.
